The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS) community is heartbroken to share the passing of Anna Showalter, who died on March 28 at the age of 35 from respiratory failure after a month in the ICU. Her sudden departure follows a time when she was happy and healthy, making this loss profoundly difficult.

For 15 years, Anna’s home was her residential facility, where she became a beacon of pure joy. Her vibrant spirit and simple, profound loves defined her: a deep affection for her sisters, the enduring comfort of Barney and Elmo, a passion for all animals, the familiar spin of *Wheel of Fortune*, and the cherished community of friends and dedicated caregivers who surrounded her. Anna’s presence was a gift, reminding everyone of the happiness found in life’s genuine moments.
