John Ross Koch Horton, Kansas– Death-Obituary: Former Sabetha Resident Has Passed Away
It is with sadness that we report the passing of John Ross Koch, 43, of Horton, Kansas, formerly of Sabetha, who passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Amberwell Hospital in Hiawatha, Kansas.
John was born on June 1, 1982, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Ronnie Koch and Darla Dedic. He grew up in Sabetha, Kansas, and graduated from Bern High School in 2000. Following his graduation, he attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.
John worked as a gaming commissioner for the Sac-N-Fox Nation, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed cooking, playing video games, and spending time with family. He was also a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and cherished moments shared with his loved ones.
On September 15, 2018, he married Amber Hawkins in Horton, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Amber Koch; his father, Ronnie Koch; his mother, Darla Dedic; his siblings; and extended family members, including nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Muscotah Cemetery.
